Tips and hints on disc care

Handling:
Only handle discs by the outer edge or the centre hole. Avoid touching or scratching  the signal side (shinier side) of the disc.

Keep safe:
Replace discs in presentation case immediately after use.

Store upright:
Always store discs upright in the custom presentation folder provided.

Packaging:
Leave discs in their packaging to minimize the effects of environmental changes.

Keep cool:
Always Store discs in a cool, dry, dark environment.

Keep clean:
Keep dirt or other foreign matter from the disc.

Cleaning:
Remove dirt, Use a specialised DVD polishing spray to clean foreign material, fingerprints and smudges by wiping with a clean cotton fabric in a straight line from the centre of the disc toward the outer edge. Do not use tissue or clothing.

Archive:
Always keep a second copy of your disc with other members of your family or friends.

Heat:
Avoid excessive heat, do not expose the disc to direct sunlight, excessive heat or humidity. In particular, do not leave a disc on the dashboard of a car.

Scratches:
With scratches, it is not the actual data section of the disc that is damaged; it is the clear coating that protects the data section of the disc that has become damaged. The scratch is interfering with the path that the laser must travel through to get to the information. You can repair the disc by either filling the scratch with an optical material, or polishing down the scratch to remove it. When you purchase your first Pix Presentation we will recommend some excellent products to take care of your discs.
